Fluid Dynamics

We have a dedicated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) team with extensive experience in both 1D and 3D simulation. With expertise in the fundamental mathematical modelling of fluid flow problems, including development of scripts and user routines, we offer a complete solution of Ansys CFD software, practical training and consulting.

Electromagnetics

We provide consulting services, together with expert partners in Radio Frequency (RF) design and Electromagnetic Compatability (EMC) assessment.

This includes integration with our Thermal ManagementDrop & Vibration and Design for Reliability capabilities to ensure electronic products and systems not only perform to specification but are also sufficiently robust for their intended design life.

Plastic Injection Molding Simulation

We provide flexible and fast-response injection molding simulation consulting services to clients without the time, skills or resources in-house – from single day plastic design assessment to long-term product and mold development projects.

Our services are typically employed to screen for and detect voids & sink marks, gas traps and weld lines with the objective to optimize fill patterns.

We provide geotechnical consulting services in conjunction with a range of technical partners.

We have in-depth knowledge of soft soil, hardening soil, small-strain stiffness, jointed rock and creep behaviour, including Mohr-Coulomb, Hoek-Brown, Modified Cam Clay and Sekiguchi-Ohta materials.

Additive Manufacturing

We regularly work directly with our clients to improve their designs through the use of simulation, through experimental design and optimisation techniques. Through strategic partners, we can also support concept and detailed design requirements together with the project management of material and physical testing, including the development and application of constitutive models within simulation software.

Accurate simulation results depend on the quality of the material data used. We have undertaken projects to acquire, data-fit and test hyperelastic material models on behalf of our simulation clients. For plastics, we have access to the Moldex3D Test Laboratories and materials database.

Design Code Assessment

We regularly undertake design assessments regarding compliance with regulatory standards and codes, including all types of static, dynamic and buckling simulations for fabrication and assemblies. We also perform the bespoke assessment of designs not in-line with conventional codes and standards.

We are very familiar with PD5500, Eurocode and ASME VIII & ASME V Design by Analysis for pressure vessel and related equipment, including stress linearisation.  Furthermore, we have undertaken fatigue life predictions within many industries for over 30 years, from mixing vessels and ship-based rotating equipment to speciality bridges subject to multiple crossings, applying relevant codes such as PD5500, Eurocode and DNV CN30-7.

Through our long-term relationship with the off-road vehicle industry, we are highly experienced in transient dynamic analysis such as the assessment of falling object protective structures (FOPS) to BS EN ISO 3449:2008.

Impact or blast simulations have included mobile phone drop tests to regulatory requirements and explosion-resistant safety enclosures for ATEX certification, together with shock testing for marine applications to recognised standards such as BV 0430.

Other design codes we have assessed against include  DEF STAN 08-123, BR 3021, MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160 and DN-RP-F112.
