Suunto Factory Tour
At the beginning of March, we hosted our first joint Factory Tour with Suunto in Vantaa, Finland.
For PDSVISION, our purpose and passion is helping customers on their digital transformation journey. That is why we are very proud of what our customers do and take great pride in being a small part of their journey.
With the Factory tour, we aim to create a space where our customers can come together, network with each other, and make valuable connections. It is a platform to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and share industry insights while getting inspired.
Welcome to Suunto
Suunto was founded more than 80 years ago by the Finnish adventurer Tuomas Vohlonen. Tuomas found himself in 1936 to be displeased with his watch and the current technology when he was knee-deep in snow in the arctic darkness. That is why he invented a new type of liquid-filled compass with a steadier, more accurate needle.
To make Suunto’s history even more impressive, during the Winter War back in 1939, a Finnish soldier was shot by a Russian soldier. However, the bullet hit the Suunto M-311 field compass in his pocket, and the soldier lived to tell the tale.
With a history like that, Suunto continues to create impressive, reliable, accurate, and quality products. That is why it was a great opportunity when they decided to open their doors to their factory and invite us and our customers to share their business and production site.
The Tour & Roundtable
During the day, we got to see the inside of the Factory, with Suunto guiding us through and sharing their insights and experiences, covering everything from engineering to manufacturing.
At this event, different companies joined, and no one was doing the same thing. Still, everyone joined in when listening to Suuntos’ experiences, which showed that we all, in one way or another, face similar challenges. It is often in the discussions together, sharing knowledge and experience, that we can find new solutions and gain new ideas and strategies for handling challenges in a more efficient and successful way.
As an attendee of the tour of the factory, people got the chance to to see and ask more about their production and how they utilize Creo and Windchill in their day to day business.
During the day at Suunto, after the tour, we sat down at a “round” table to discuss the day’s topic: the MBOM—Manufacturing Bill of Material in Windchill. This topic affects all manufacturing companies, and here was the opportunity to engage and discuss the importance of accurate BOM and more.
Joining us at our events is an excellent opportunity to help your business find new solutions, share ideas and innovation, and develop new strategies for what may be common problems.
“These events are supporting us to find other companies for sharing experiences and how to approach challenges.” – Niko Hämäläinen, Bluefors.
“The factory tour gave a nice outside-the-box view from the normal day-to-day work.” – Tommi Lintilä, Envista.
