Ansys 2024 R1: Release Highlights

This blog will explore some exciting features of the Ansys 2024R1 release and how they connect to the PDSVISION solution for a seamless digital thread and fulfillment of requirements through the product development process.

PDSVISION, as a partner of Ansys, PTC, and Altium, is excited about the synergies and interoperability enhancements this release provides in this ecosystem. Great examples include:

  • CoDesign between Ansys and Altium for an interactive connection between ECAD and simulation
  • BoM analyzer and Sustainability Add-On for Ansys Granta that connect materials information management to Product Lifecycle Management to support organizations on their journey to Net Zero.

In this blog, our team introduces their top 4 areas in the Ansys 2024R1 release. We have also published articles that will go more in-depth into each of the areas.

1. CoDesign for Electronics

Ansys has been working a lot with Altium lately. The Ansys Electronics 2024R1 along with the Altium Designer 24 support the CoDesign workflow.

Ansys Electronics 2024R1 – What’s cool?

PDSVISION as an Ansys and Altium partner is excited about the new workflow. It helps dramatically compress design cycles and accelerate the overall design process. Including being able to optimize the prices for components in Ansys, with information from Altium using Octoparts. The interactive co-design helps significantly reduce layout time and achieve faster milestones and time to market.

3. Materials for Sustainability and Net Zero

Materials play a pivotal role in a company’s journey to net zero. Teams developing products must consider materials meeting performance, cost, environmental regulations from the start of the design process, as well as the shifting customer attitudes. This must be done at the beginning, not at the end of the design process, to prevent costly redesigns and delays to product launches.

Ansys Granta 2024R1 – what’s new and cool?

Ansys Granta along with PTC Windchill PLM helps organizations meet and optimize product requirements, such as ESG, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Full Material Declaration (FMD), Digital Product Passport (DPP), Energy use, CO2 emission, and more.

Assess the environmental footprint of BOMs, explore ‘what-ifs,’ and select the best materials for each job.

3. Efficiency, Automation and Productivity

One of the key themes in many of the Ansys 2024R1 products and enhancements are ease of use, interoperability and automation to support efficiency and engineering productivity.

Ansys Structures 2024R1 – What’s hot?

Connecting Discovery, LS-DYNA, Ansys Motion, Sherlock for electronics reliability. Sherlock’s integration with Workbench now allows users to specify PCB transformation options directly in Workbench, greatly simplifying the process of generating system-level reliability predictions.

Meshing is a core building block in FEM simulations. From a static structural simulation to estimating and optimizing the reliability of electronics under extreme conditions. By simplifying meshing, Ansys 2024R1 streamlines the workflow and leaves more time for analysis. You can choose between automated or semi-automated meshing that helps you get the right mesh the first time around without having to do the deep detail creation of it. PyPrimeMesh was released last year. The story continues in 2024 R1. The new capabilities give you more pythonically control of the meshing.

4. Interoperability, efficiency for optics and photonics designers

With new release of Ansys Optics 2024R1, Optical simulation and analysis software have enabled more complex designs without a vast knowledge of the endless intricacies of photonics.

Ansys Optics – Top 3 highlights

Ansys Lumerical, Speos, and Zemax form an ensemble of Ansys Optics, which encapsulates everything needed to design cutting-edge solutions in optics and photonics. Ansys Optics covers the whole field of optical simulations from quantum level to illumination applications. As technology improves, even the most common applications include high technology features, from complex coatings to minimize stray light to macro-scale surface structures for modifying light in tight spaces. Here are three reasons for using Ansys optical software and the new Ansys 2024R1 release.

“Modern optical simulation and analysis software by the likes of Ansys Optics have enabled evermore complex design, without the knowledge worth a lifetime of the endless intricacies in photonics.” Olli Hakala, Senior Optical Engineer
