myPDS Rendering Automation

From CAD models to photorealistic images in a secure PLM environment

Automate the rendering Process

myPDS Rendering Automation automates the rendering process from CAD models to photorealistic images within a secure PLM environment.

Today it is a manual process to create rendered images of CAD models. myPDS Rendering Automation enhances this process by automating:

  • Rendering integrated into PLM
  • Parts of the PLM processes
  • Images stored in PTC Windchill for enterprise distribution

The Process

  1. Designer stores CAD files to Windchill
  2. CAD file includes info about materials and camera angles
  3. Rendering job starts either manually or from a workflow
  4. Windchill sends job to rendering que
  5. Rendering server executes jobs in the que
  6. Images are stored to Windchill as documents
  7. Version control and distribution

The challenge

Companies with many products and products variants which updates almost daily are facing challenges to keep up-to-date with creation of large quantity of rendered images on a larger scale on a standardized template. It´s a manual process to create high resolution images from CAD, which creates time pressure on the CAD Designers, which in many cases are not rendering experts.

One option is to outsource to third party, which is a manual and time consuming process, lack of internal knowledge and increases the risk to share sensitive data with third parties.

The solution

myPDS Rendering Automation automates the rendering process from CAD models to photorealistic images within a secure PLM environment.

Business value

Faster, more accurate updated photorealistic images

  • Reduces time and cost of large-scale updates to product images
  • Faster time-to-market
  • Enforces house-style compliance
  • Reduces staffing costs, manual and error-prone tasks
  • Reduces risks of Intellectual Property leakage
  • Single source for images
